Eleven–nil – an exhibition match at the Győr University Ice Sports Centre

Just as we’d expected, we put the DUE-Worm Angels under pressure right from the very first minute, and by maintaining a high tempo throughout, we secured an 11–0 victory on home ice. The crowd once again created a fantastic atmosphere at the Győr University Ice Sports Centre, and we repaid them with goals.

First period: the green-and-white machine gets into full swing (5–0)

We had to wait until the middle of the period for the first goal, when Márk Almási (59) ‘broke the deadlock’ whilst we had a man advantage. From then on, the goals came thick and fast: we scored three times in the space of a minute, and what’s more, we scored the first two whilst a man down. Dániel Csölle (19) opened the scoring, whilst István Szűcs (97) scored twice. Towards the end of the period, Bence Dézsi (51) extended the lead to five goals with a magnificent solo effort.

Second period: control and patience (2–0)

We maintained our dominance; the Worm Angels sat deep in defence, but we still managed to break through twice: Martin Sipák (7) scored from a man-up situation in the 26th minute, then Bence Dézsi struck again just before half-time, bringing the score to 7–0.

Third period: a stylish finish (4–0)

The pattern of play remained unchanged: the puck rarely made it into our own third, and the pressure led to further goals. Márk Almási found a gap in the defence early on, and then Barnabás Dézsi (6) also scored. Midway through the period, Benedek Madácsi (18) scored the tenth; after that, the clock switched to running time. Márk Almási had the final say, completing his hat-trick and sealing the match.

Overview

Our performance this evening was characterised by disciplined team defence, creative attacking play and effective set-pieces. Whether we had a man advantage or were a man down, we performed at a level that shaped the entire match. Thank you for your support – together we are stronger!
