A confident victory in the final stretch of the regular season.

Our penultimate match in the Andersen League regular season took place on Friday evening, with Vasas – who have been in excellent form so far and had managed to win our away fixture – as our opponents.

The match got off to a brilliant start; we scored straight away from an attack that began with the centre kick, with Bence Makovics finding the net just 10 seconds after the whistle signalled the start. 1–0

The visitors were able to respond to this, capitalising on a two-man advantage through Bayer. 1–1

From then on, however, there was no stopping them; the Győr ‘steamroller’ got into full swing, with five goals in quick succession from Győr players in the second half of the period: Bence Makovics opened the scoring, followed by goals from István Szűcs and Nikita Bogdanov, whilst Sebestyén Csata scored twice towards the end of the period, netting his second goal in the final second. 6–1

The start of the second period was eerily similar to the first, although this time we ‘already’ had to wait 30 seconds for the first goal – scored by Győr: following a superb breakaway, Bence Makovics once again found the back of the visitors’ net. 7–1

After that, however, our team suffered a bit of a ‘slump’, and Vasas scored two goals before the end of the first minute, courtesy of Horácskó and Hladony. 7–3

It was time to shake things up a bit, and we managed to do just that: first Richárd Horváth found the net, then Benedek Madácsi also made his mark on the match, scoring twice in quick succession. 10–3

The visitors still had some fire left in them, and Szabó managed to score a consolation goal. 10–4

The final goal of the period, however, came from a Győr player, with Bendegúz Jábor scoring Győr’s 11th goal. 11–4

The final third broke with ‘tradition’; there were no goals in the opening minutes, until István Szűcs broke the deadlock, and shortly afterwards Botond Fekete unleashed a long-range strike that found the back of the net. 13–4

Vasas managed to respond just a few seconds later with another consolation goal from Nyergesi, but just as in the previous two periods, it was a Győr striker who had the final say in this period: Bendegúz Jábor made a fine leap to seal the final score. 14–5

**We managed to secure the three points with a confident performance in this crucial match. The top three places in the table are still wide open, with Szeged and Lehel vying for those positions alongside our team; the final fixtures of the regular season will decide the final standings.

Next Saturday, we’ll be hosting MAC Ikonok at home, which will bring the regular season of the Andersen League 24/25 to a close. **
